3 Amazing Benefits You Get with 3M Thinsulate Window Film All Year Long

Summer has officially come to an end as today is the beginning of the Fall Equinox, which means less AC and more heating for many households. Places like California, however, have hot and cold (to us) days year-round, which can have a noticeable effect on your energy costs.

This is why Campbell’s new 3M Thinsulate Window Film is the choice for hot OR cold days, and energy cost reduction.

Window Film has evolved immensely from just blocking out the sun’s rays; now it can protect you and even insulate your home. And so, these are 3 reasons why you should have us install all-season 3M Thinsulate Window Tinting today.

1. Rain, Snow or Shine: Thinsulate Works

An ideal home or workplace would have consistent year-round interior climate regardless of the weather. Windows can be up to 30 times less insulated than the roof and walls. Although windows make up a fraction of the housing shell, more than 30% of all the heating and cooling energy used in buildings and homes is due to the heat lost or gained through windows. 3M Thinsulate Window Film keeps your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Check out this image that illustrates and explains how 3M’s Thinsulate Climate Control Window Film Works.

2. Lower and Lower Energy Costs

Fall and winter mean colder days and nights, and for many homes natural gas heating is the solution. The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports the average household will spend $578 this winter for natural gas heating and $930 for electric heat. Cut these costs by having Campbell install 3M Thinsulate Window Film to retain the heat in your home from that escapes through the windows. Beyond that, when winter ends and the hot days return, the 3M Thinsulate Window Film will still work, rejecting heat from coming in, which will cut your energy costs even more. Take a moment to view this video to see how Thinsulate Window Film saves you money year-round.

3. Environmentally Friendly

Installing 3M Thinsulate Window Film will reduce your energy use, which in turn, will reduce the environmental impact. The Guardian Environment Network reports that the United States uses more electricity for cooling than the entire continent of Africa. Air conditioning by burning fuels (like natural gas) causes more greenhouse emissions when pushing heat out of a house than a furnace does when putting the same quantity of heat into a house. 3M products are also dedicated in using sustainable materials to help their customers reach their environmental goals.

3 Reasons to Protect Your Home During the Holiday Season

According to the United States Department of Transportation, the week of Thanksgiving is the most traveled week out of the year. It is said that the number of people traveling long distance during Thanksgiving increases 54%, and 23% during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Make sure your home is holiday-ready whether you plan on staying local or traveling, because according to the FBI, nearly 400,000 burglaries occur in the U.S. during November and December each year.

Ensure your family and home are safe this holiday season by avoiding these 3 common mistakes:

       1. Don’t be an easy target.

Burglars look for houses that are easily accessible, so ensure all window film and doors are securely locked before you leave for holiday shopping or head out on vacation.

Additionally, avoid posting your holiday plans on social media outlets. It may seem like an obvious tip, but many people are guilty of this. Be cautious what you share online, as the Internet is among one of the most popular places burglars look.

2. Dark homes are likely empty homes.

Burglars typically look for houses that have no lights on; this is an obvious indicator that the owner is on vacation or gone for the night. Make sure to leave a couple of lights on indoors, light the exterior of your home, and consider putting them on a timer throughout the day and night to hide obvious signs that you may not be home.

3. Look out for “window shoppers”.

During the holiday season, it is typical for burglars to scope out houses by looking into windows or even dressing up as salesmen to get a peek inside. Be cautious of strangers walking around your neighborhood and never invite them into your home.

Also, be sure to discreetly throw away boxes, as burglars look for boxes that are left in trash cans or on the curb to see what valuable items you receive.

Start your holiday off right with peace of mind. Protect what matters and decrease your chances of a break-in this holiday season. The purpose of Campbell’s safety and security doors, screens and films is to keep intruders out of your home completely. Additional Benefits of One Way Window Privacy Film

Besides providing a high level of daytime privacy, one way film for windows offers several other benefits for you and your home. The high level of reflectivity possessed by these types of films makes them great for heat reduction and UV blocking. One way vision window film blocks out 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays that cause sunburns on our skin and fading on things like furniture and upholstery placed near windows.

Additionally, these types of privacy films are very effective at blocking out glare. This makes them an ideal treatment for windows in home offices or entertainment rooms where you want to be able to read, work on a computer, or focus on a television screen without the need to squint your eyes or close drapes and blinds. You can keep your daytime views and even let some natural light in without straining your eyes.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

When you’re deciding whether or not to install one way view window film, there are a few key takeaways you should remember. First and foremost, remember that one way tint never works at night, and in fact, the effect works in the opposite direction when it is dark outside. There is currently no way to achieve 24-hour privacy with this glass film.

The next most important thing to remember is that no matter how dark the tint, it will have an effect on the appearance of your glass and how much natural light it lets in. That being said, if you choose a very light tint, the effect will barely be noticeable. However, if you want the highest level of daytime privacy and choose a very dark, highly reflective film, it can significantly darken your glass and inhibit higher amounts of natural light from passing through your windows.

At Campbell Corporation, we are experts in the installation of one way film for windows and all other types of privacy window film. Contact us today for more information or for a consultation.

What Is One Way Window Film?

Part of feeling comfortable in your own home is knowing that you have a certain level of privacy from the outside world. But, what about when you still want to be able to see the outside world? We’re happy to tell you that there is a solution to this problem: one-way window film. Keep reading to find out how you can use this type of window film to increase your at-home privacy—without feeling like a complete shut-in.

What Is One Way Window Film?

One way window film is a type of mirrored privacy window film that offers a high level of daytime privacy. The reflective finish of one way privacy window film gives the glass a one way mirror effect when there is more light on one side than the other. This means that, during the day, people on the outside of the window can’t see in through the glass, while you can still see clearly through it from the inside.

You can apply one way window film to any windows into rooms that you want more daytime privacy in. For example, applying reflective privacy film to ground floor windows, patio doors, and bathroom windows allows you to open up curtains and blinds during the day with the comfort of knowing that people outside still can’t see into your home. One way privacy film also lets some natural light in, though how much light it lets in depends on the darkness of the tint.

How Does One Way Mirror Window Film Work?

One way window privacy film is manufactured by sandwiching an ultra-thin layer of reflective metal between an adhesive bottom layer and a protective top layer. The one way mirror effect created by these types of privacy films occurs when sunlight reflects off of the windows they are applied to. The darker and more reflective the films are, and the more outside light there is, the stronger the one way mirror effect is.

Keep in mind that this means these types of films do not provide nighttime privacy when it is darker outside than inside. The one way mirror effect essentially gets reversed when the light outside disappears and lights get turned on inside. The effectiveness is also limited when these types of films are applied to windows that face north or are shaded because of buildings, trees, or other obstacles. One way glass film must receive direct exterior light in order to function effectively.

What About Nighttime Privacy?

Since one way mirror window film only provides daytime privacy, you will have to employ additional or alternative solutions to achieve night time privacy as well. If you want to utilize one way vision window film for daytime privacy, the easiest way to keep people from seeing into your home at night is to close curtains and blinds. Since your views and outward visibility at night are limited at best, you aren’t really sacrificing anything by covering up your windows after the sun goes down.

On the other hand, if you want a window film that provides 24-hour privacy, you can install something like a translucent one way frosted glass film. This will allow light to pass through but won’t allow a detailed view through the glass. If you require the highest level round-the-clock privacy, you can consider totally opaque window film, which blocks out all light and visibility.

How Is Privacy Window Film Installed?

The vast majority of the time, privacy window films are installed on the interior face of the glass. This internal application ensures the longest possible lifespan for the window film. Though it can be applied to the exterior face of a window, exposure to the elements shortens the length of time that they function at peak performance.

Window films are applied using a liquid solution that allows them to be maneuvered precisely into place, then the liquid is squeezed out using a squeegee and the film adheres securely to the glass.
